Welcome to Florida!

....we don't bite, we promise. This is one of our local critters taking a stroll across the road, looking for a a new watering hole. I jumped out of the car to snap this shot, but the little guy was camera shy and didn't stick around to have his 15 minutes of fame. Oh well!

My Dad's brother lived in Cocoa Beach, Florida for 20 years. When my Dad would take his vacation in November - that's where he would go. He would always come back with some crazy stories, now whether they were true or not....I'll never know, but seeign this thing cross the road makes his stories more believable.

Nuh ungh, this Canuk wouldn't have gone near that thing. However I would have taken a shot with my XTRA long lens!

I don't know how you Floridians do it! I could never get used to those gators roaming the streets.

In actuality, gators are much more afraid of people than one might think. They are shy and not as aggressive as crocodiles are. Having grown up around gators my whole life, I didn't even think twice, I just jumped out of the car and snapped the pic. I would not recommend it to tourists though. ;)
